The new SMOK stick kits such as the Smok Stick Prince or the Smok Stick V8 are awesome for carrying around in your pocket. This also causes them to be susceptible to issues from being beaten around. Here you will find some common issues that arise with the Smok stick series, and how to fix them.

LED Flashing red 4 times while vaping
Issue: Screw on the tank and press fire button, then your LED flashes red 4 times.

Fixes: Take the tank off the mod, and open the tank to check coil tightness, if you were able to tighten it up more try the mod again. If this did not fix the issue, remove the tank again and take it completely apart. Clean the tank in hot water and soap, especially in the threads. Also make sure you clean up the electrical contact in the bottom base of the tank. If nothing works, you should try another tank if you have one that works; then file a warranty claim in under warranty.

LED Flashing red 15 times while vaping
Issue: The mod is detecting voltage below 3.2v, this is not enough power to fire the mod and has enabled under-voltage protection.

Fixes: First you should check your battery to ensure it is fully charged. If the battery is fully charged, there is a chance that your battery could be worn out or a counterfeit. If a new battery that is fully charged does not fix this problem, you could have an issue inside the mod where you are shorting out the cell causing a dangerous situation. The voltage detection inside the mod could also be broken, send it back to SMOK for warranty repairs.

Stick Mod not firing
Issue: Mod not firing when pressing the button.

Fixes: Press the Fire button 5 times within 2 seconds, and the LED should light up to signal you have turned on the mod. If the stick does not fire after doing this, you should verify your batteries are fully charged. If the LED flashes RED 5 times and automatically turns back off, there is a chance the batteries are not acceptable or the MOD has internal issues.

Tank won’t tighten down, tank keeps spinning
Issue: When you are trying to tighten down your tank on the 510 connector, it doesn’t tighten up and just continues to spin.

Fixes: First try to look at your tank, and see if the threads are damaged. If they are not, you have most likely broken the 510 connector‘s retaining ring. The only permanent fix for this is to return it to SMOK for a replacement, but sometimes you can use a small pick to hold the base while tightening down the tank, and it will last for a little while. Next time you remove the tank, it will likely have the same problem. This is a well known issue with SMOK mod boxes as you can tell from our other posts. There are some ways to open the larger MOD boxes to tighten up the 510, but we have not tried on the STICK mods yet.

Cannot Remove Tank from Stick Mod
Issue: The tank spins without loosening from the top of the mod, or you just cannot move it.

Fixes: Unfortunately the SMOK 510 connector is the weakest link, and generally the first thing that breaks on a heavily used mod. Try using some pliers on the tank to turn it, and you may need to try and jam something onto the 510 connector to keep it from turning. Read some of our other posts about broken 510 connectors to learn the issue.
